Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- 4. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract, mixing until combined.
- 5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
- 6. Chill the dough for 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
- 7. Roll dough into 2-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- 8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are just set but not browned.
- 9. Let cookies cool completely before frosting.
- 10. In a bowl, beat powdered sugar, butter, and heavy cream until smooth and creamy. Add a drop of pink food coloring.
- 11. Frost each cookie generously and top with festive sprinkles.
Notes
For the softest cookies, don’t overbake—they should look slightly underdone in the center.
If you prefer a stronger almond flavor, add a few extra drops of extract.
You can color the frosting red or green for extra holiday fun.
