Description

A comforting and flavorful homemade lasagna recipe layered with rich tomato sauce, creamy cheese, and tender noodles — perfect for cozy family dinners.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz tomato sauce
  • 15 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • Olive oil, salt, pepper, Italian herbs to taste

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a skillet, brown the meat, add onion and garlic.

2. Stir in tomato paste, sauce, and herbs. Simmer for 20 minutes.

3. Boil lasagna noodles until al dente and drain.

4. Mix ricotta with egg, herbs, and half of the Parmesan.

5. Layer sauce, noodles, ricotta, and mozzarella. Repeat.

6. Finish with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.

7. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.

8. Remove foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes until golden.

9. Let rest 20 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

You can prepare this lasagna a day in advance and refrigerate before baking.

To freeze, assemble but don’t bake; thaw overnight before cooking.
