Description

Irish Soda Bread with Savory Herb Butter baked with a crisp crust and tender crumb, served warm with garlic herb butter.


Ingredients

Scale

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

1¾ cups buttermilk

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 tbsp chopped parsley

1 tsp chopped thyme

1 garlic clove, minced

¼ tsp salt


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

2. Mix dry ingredients.

3. Add buttermilk and form dough.

4. Shape into round loaf.

5. Cut cross on top.

6. Bake 35–40 minutes.

7. Mix herb butter.

8. Serve warm.

Notes

Tap bottom for hollow sound to check doneness.

Best served warm.
