Description
This tator tot casserole with ground beef no soup uses real ingredients for a creamy, hearty dinner with crispy tots and seasoned beef.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup whole milk
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
32 oz frozen tater tots
Optional frozen corn or peas
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat.
3. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft.
4. Whisk cornstarch into milk until smooth.
5. Pour milk into skillet and stir until thickened.
6. Add sour cream, seasoning, and half the cheese.
7. Spread mixture into a greased baking dish.
8. Arrange tater tots evenly on top.
9. Bake for 30 minutes.
10. Add remaining cheese and bake 5 minutes more.
Notes
Spread tater tots in a single layer for crisp results.
Let the casserole rest 5 minutes before serving.
