Description
Capirotada is a traditional Mexican bread pudding made with toasted bread, cinnamon piloncillo syrup, raisins, nuts, and melted cheese. This warm and comforting dessert combines sweet and savory flavors in every bite.
Ingredients
- 4 cups toasted bolillo bread slices
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup piloncillo or brown sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup shredded Mexican cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Heat water, piloncillo, and cinnamon stick until syrup forms.
2. Toast bread slices lightly with butter.
3. Layer bread in a baking dish.
4. Add raisins, nuts, and cheese.
5. Pour syrup over each layer.
6. Repeat layers until dish is full.
7. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes.
8. Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
