Description

A creamy one-pan comfort dish combining tender seared chicken thighs, al dente orzo, and a garlicky parmesan-infused cream sauce. Ready in 40 minutes with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 lbs skin-on chicken thighs
1 cup uncooked dried orzo
4 slivered garlic cloves
1 cup heavy cream (full-fat)
1 cup grated parmesan
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup water

Instructions

Cut chicken into 2-inch chunks and season with salt and black pepper
Mini food processor garlic until aromatic
Measure broth, water, and cream separately
Grate parmesan into a bowl
Heat skillet on medium-high with olive oil, sear chicken in batches (3 min per side). Set aside
Toast orzo in the same pan 3-5 minutes until translucent
Layer chicken over orzo, scatter garlic between layers, and pour broth over the stack
Add cream, cover, and simmer 18 minutes
Uncover, stir to combine with cheese, and add parmesan until sauce thickens (5 minutes)
Divide meat and pasta into bowls

Notes

Use slivered garlic for slow flavor release
Toast orzo before adding liquid for nutty flavor
Adjust sauce consistency with water, not cream, during simmer
Covered simmer retains chicken moisture
Under-salting thighs can lead to bland meat; aim for 1/4 tsp per 8 oz
