Description

Old fashioned strawberry rhubarb crisp with a sweet tart fruit filling and a golden buttery topping, perfect for a classic homemade dessert.


Ingredients

Scale

4 cups rhubarb (chopped)

4 cups strawberries (halved)

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter (cold)

3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup oats

1 tsp cinnamon

2 tbsp lemon juice

1/2 tsp nutmeg


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F

2. Chop rhubarb and halve strawberries

3. Mix fruit with sugar and lemon juice and let sit

4. In a bowl, combine flour, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg

5. Cut in cold butter until crumbly

6. Spread fruit mixture in baking dish

7. Add topping evenly over fruit

8. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes until golden and bubbling

9. Cool slightly and serve warm

Notes

Use cold butter for best texture

Do not overmix topping

Adjust sugar based on fruit sweetness
