Description

A refreshing, sweet, and spicy tropical salsa featuring chilled watermelon and mango, topped with jalapeño, lime, and fresh herbs. Perfect as a side dish or topping for grilled proteins.

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups watermelon, diced
3 cups unripe mango, diced
2 medium jalapeños, finely chopped
3 tbsp lime juice
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup red onion, minced

Instructions

Chill watermelon and mango chunks in the freezer for 30 minutes before mixing
Finely chop jalapeño and remove seeds for a milder heat
Mince red onion and set aside in a small bowl with 1 tbsp lime juice
Chop cilantro and refrigerate until ready to use
Place chilled watermelon and mango in a large mixing bowl
Add chopped jalapeño, drained red onion, and 2 tbsp lime juice
Gently toss ingredients using a spatula to prevent bruising
Fold in fresh cilantro leaves for the final touch
Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours
Let stand for 15 minutes before serving to balance temperature
Adjust seasoning with additional lime juice or jalapeño, if desired

Notes

Use a sharp knife for cleaner cuts and better texture
Substitute white onion for stronger flavor
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours
