Description

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup milk (whole or non-dairy)
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract


Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl
In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients
Mix in vanilla extract

Cool layers completely on wire racks
Whip buttercream (instructions not included here) and stack layers with frosting in between
